SCRIPTED

This series was created for a Collective Exhibition of paintings and poetry. This exhibition opened the 9th of August until 14 September 2025 at Aigantighe Public Gallery, Timaru, New Zealand.

 

The whole series include portraits of poets and writers, Anne Sexton, American, Simone de Beauvoir, France, Virginia Woolf, England, Rosa Beltran, Mexico, Irene Vallejo, Spain, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nigeria.

 

The finished portrait is minimalistic, the lines are completed with metallic transfer sheets.

The Poem behind the portrait was written by myself and displayed throughout the six paintings of the series.

 

POEM

That it feels good, yes.

That I don’t care, yes.

That it will bring pain, no.

That I can change, no.

That I love my skin, yes and no.

That I love myself, yes and no.

That I am happy today, yes and no.

That I have self respect, no.

 

 

That I want you around, yes and no.

That I want a new cat, yes and no.

That you are in my heart, yes.

That I liked it last night, yes and no.

That I know who I am, no.

That I know what I want, yes.

That I am afraid, always.
